A room or a screen: care in Arizona
You are weighing a drive to a clinic against a visit on a screen. Begin with what the visit needs to accomplish.
A screen is a way to meet
Telehealth is a way to receive care without being in the same place, for example through a video conversation.
Under Arizona rules checked October 3, 2026, an examination in person is not required for every prescription given through remote care.
Your treating professional must still assess your health. The rules that apply to that specific drug must also be followed.
Under rules checked October 3, 2026, that person must decide whether remote care can meet your needs.
Ask which checks can happen by video, and how a visit in person or tests would be arranged if needed.
Before most remote care, you must agree after the care has been explained. This is called consent.
An agreement given aloud must be written into your health record.
Ask how the appointment works
For a visit in a room
Ask who does the assessment, where follow-up happens, and whether there is a separate charge for tests.
For a visit at a distance
Find out if the visit is a live conversation or if you send details for someone to review later. Find out how to ask your own follow-up questions.
Your location matters
Permission to practise here
Arizona rules checked October 3, 2026 let some health professionals licensed in another state register to give remote care here.
Registration gives permission for remote care, rather than a full Arizona licence.
The clinician’s other licence must have no board restrictions. Their record of board penalties must meet Arizona’s registration rules.
That person also needs insurance for claims about their care.
Ask the Arizona board whether this person’s registration allows the care planned for your visit. If you travel, tell the clinician where you will be during the appointment.
Use Arizona checks for a West Valley search
Maricopa County’s Human Services location page calls its Glendale location “West Valley”, as checked October 3, 2026.
This is an example of the area’s name, rather than a place this guide lists for peptide treatment.
That use of the name does not define the whole region’s boundary.
Ask which board records the person’s permission to practise in Arizona, rather than relying on a regional name.
Read the state rules
- Arizona: remote visits and examinations
Read about agreeing to remote care and the examination rules. Some consent exceptions apply; these rules do not mean you will get a prescription.
- Arizona: out-of-state registration
Use this to ask the Arizona board about the person’s other licence, past board penalties, and insurance for care-related claims.
Consent exceptions include some emergencies, specialist test results sent for review, and some exchanges when the patient is absent.
Ask which rule applies to your visit, and why.
